PAYING HOMAGE TO OUR HOME.
With this collection, we chose to pay homage to a place we call home, Puerto Rico. The island and its people have had a significant impact on our personal lives and upbringing. Puerto Rico has had its share of political and natural disasters but through it all, its resilience always shines brightest. For this collection, we chose to display the strength and beauty of Puerto Rico by sewing those characteristics into our pieces. Puerto Rico has enriched the world with its culture, contributions and its most prized possession—its people.
We remain strong, high-spirited and more determined than ever.
A Piece of History
Taíno Indians, a subgroup of the Arawakan Indians were the first inhabitants to occupy Puerto Rico. We incorporated their drawings of animals, people and gods into this particular jacket
This one-of-a-kind Rider jacket was hand-drawn by artist Ilan Leas showcasing Taino drawings with Ilan's style of graffiti-like strokes and harsh angles to create a beautiful wearable art piece.
Color Inspiration: Gold
We chose gold as the main color scheme of this collection to represent the richest resource Puerto Rico has to offer—its people.
Gold, in many cultures, is associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, wealth and wisdom.
The English translation for Puerto Rico is "Rich Port'.
The versatility of knitwear was something that intrigued us. For our first garment we took a classic piece and went big & bold. Our unisex cardigan is hand-knitted right here in Brooklyn, New York. Made of ultra-soft 100% Peruvian merino wool in turmeric yellow & timeless navy. Hand-embroidered logo on shawl.
